About the artist
Born in June 1985, Sébastien grew up on a farm. His connection with nature was formed in his childhood, strengthened by the example of his father who was a faithful lover and protector of it. Walks in the mountains, discoveries of unusual beaches, night walks, work in the fields, everything was done in a state of mind of surpassing oneself and contemplation.
Of French-Haitian origin, he settled in Trois-Rivières in the summer of 2003, where he put down roots and became a husband and father.
During the summer of 2015, he and his family moved to Quebec City and then during the summer of 2019 to Sainte Catherine de la Jacques Cartier where they acquired their first house.
Yet something was missing: how to be a free man, living fully, detached from illusory burdens and pressures?
38 years of searching and it was then, through a combination of circumstances and thanks to the landscape crisscrossed by the Jacques Cartier River, which borders his home, that he found in painting the means to offer what only he can provide.
A self-taught painter, he never ceases to explore the surrounding counties from which he draws inspiration to create his works.
He attended a workshop with Rénald Gauthier then with Marc Grandbois.
In July 2024, he founded the Caritas.arts platform, which oversees all of his work and which he defines as follows:
"Caritas.arts is not just me, but my wife, my children, my mother, my sisters, all those who have contributed, collaborated, taught."
"Caritas.arts is the container in me that collects what everyone, with all their heart, wants to put there."
